Its race week for the inaugural RX8 Cup Series enduro with a fantastic 20 cars and 39 drivers confirmed to hit the grid this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park. It has a been a massive build up for the categories first ever enduro with teams announcing their driver lineups for the 2x 20min sprint races and 2x 50 min endurance races. Plenty of well known names, regular faces as well as newcomers to the series join the grid at what is shaping up to be one of the biggest rounds in the history of the category.
Family is a special part of the RX8 Cup community with many teams and pit crews consisting of family members. This creates a bond between generations and defines what true grass roots racing is. Four teams will get to experience some family bonding behind the wheel of their RX8 Cup cars with David & Luke Grice, Jackson & David Noakes, Aaron & Finley Hills and Steven & David King to co drive together this weekend. The RX8 Cup is thrilled to introduce the ‘Father & Son Trophy’ to be awarded to the highest placed Father & Son team at the end of the round. David and Luke Grice will pilot the #2 Smart Boating RX8 Cup car with Luke making the step up from Karting to the co driver seat with his dad. David Grice explained “I am proud to be driving with my son Luke. We did the re skilling program commencing with an OLT and MA Licence but thanks to the team at RaceAway Track Time, It really did show how easy it is to go from Karting to RX8 Cup racing”.
