Former Eggleston Motorsport driver and Supercar racer David Murphy will join the RX8 Cup Series at Sydney Motorsport Park for round 4 of the championship. Murphy recently acquired two Ric Shaw Racing built cars and will pilot the #24 ‘Managed Waste Service’ entry in the inaugural Enduro meeting.

David bought his first circuit car back in 2017 having never driven a tin-top, jumping straight into an old AU Falcon V8 Supercar built by Glenn Seton. He competed in a few Sports Sedans rounds before taking the AU to Bathurst entering a combined Sports Sedan race. “I ended up on the podium. After that, I was hooked” explained Murphy. Next he purchased Craig Lowndes’ ex-Vodafone 888-built FG Falcon and started racing for the Eggleston Motorsport Team in the Super3 Series. Murphy competed all over the country with former Supercars driver Dean Canto engineering his Super 3 campaign. This helped him to understand the lingo and the behaviour of a Supercar. Throughout his motorsport career David has also bought a few mid-90s Supercars, which he still races today.

Murphy told the RX8 Cup “My latest chapter is in the RX8 Cup, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes me next. I’m looking forward to joining the series as it looks like it’s a great bunch of guys and girls with some close racing and hopefully no damage”.
