Season 2024 sees Team 40, Access Linemarking Equipment and Municipal Works Australia team up with the RX8 Cup to raise awareness for road worker safety. Rob Leonard has swapped his TA2 Mustang for a RX8 Cup car and is looking forward to joining the grid for his first round at Phillip Island. Leonard will be running the Number 40 themed as the standard speed limit sign on active roadwork sites, with his RX8 also carrying the safety message “SLOW DOWN, WORKERS AROUND”.
Rob explained “The drive behind this campaign is to spread the word about the high number of serious injuries or even worse, the number of deaths that are caused every year at roadwork sites by inattentive or speeding drivers. While carrying a message about “SLOW DOWN, WORKERS AROUND” on a race car may seem strange to a lot of people, we draw on the safety policies in place that we also see in the pit lane at race tracks where 40 kph is strictly enforced to keep the pit lane workers safe at all times. As a supplier to Councils, State Governments and infrastructure-based companies, Access Linemarking Equipment has always supported safety initiatives for their customers’ employees as most of them operate on active roadwork sites and constantly talk about the number of incidents that happen on a daily basis.
The RX8 Cup welcomes and wishes Rob Leonard all the best for the 2024 season!
